I think of you often, Georganna. I wish we had managed to talk for more than a minute on your birthday. Right now I am remembering the last time you visited in September 2018. The plan was to take you to Earlyse and Larry’s—you were to stay there and you and Ron and I were invited to lunch. Instead we had a mini-crisis here and I could not leave. I can see Larry coming over to get you. That is the last time we saw you. But you called before you boarded the train for home—we had the best talk! Thank you for that call, Georganna. I love you and miss you and appreciate how strong and pragmatic you are and must have been in your last days.

Georganna and I had cubicles next to each other for the short time she was at CalSTRS before retiring. We became fast friends, and I have fond memories of taking weekend jaunts to various art shows and craft fairs in the area and beyond. I admired Georganna’s energy and thirst for life and learning. I’ve watched her pursue a new interest in photography during her early days of retirement, a hobby that ultimately became a deep passion that brought great joy. Georganna, you have touched my life in such a beautiful way, and I am so blessed to have known you and have had you as a friend. 

My deepest sympathies to the family. I had just learned of Georganna’s passing from a former CalSTRS colleague this past Sunday while attending a celebration of life and lantern lighting ceremony in Hilo, Hawaii. I was deeply saddened but comforted by being able to launch a lantern into the bay in her honor and memory. She will be greatly missed. 

Georganna was a wonderful lady and dear friend who enjoyed being outdoors with her friends and camera. 

I had the pleasure of meeting her through a local photography group 14 years ago. We enjoyed many photography adventures and restaurants all over the Bay Area and Sacramento Valley. 

Our most recent outings were just a few months ago photographing birds and a gorgeous sunset.

I was blessed to have her in my life. She will be missed.
