After college, David served in the Air Force Reserve. David began his career in real estate appraisals at the Sacramento County Assessor’s Office as an Associate Real Estate Appraiser (13 years) and spent 7 years as an independent appraiser. He later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and served as Vice President at various banking institutions, including Bank of America and Washington Mutual, overseeing all commercial real estate appraisals. David was well traveled; traveling to Europe, Latin America, and Africa. David was a great cook; he loved steaks, Italian and Mexican food, fine wine, and enjoyed a good gin and tonic. He was also an avid reader, appreciated art and sculpture, loved gardening, and was a loving pet owner. Once he returned to Sacramento, he opened his home to family, hosted many family gatherings and appreciated the many visits from his cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nephew. He will be deeply missed. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.neptune-society.com/location/sacramento-ca for the Castorena family.
